Our Functional Nutrition program works around two major concepts. The first is acknowledging and recognizing that many of us are extremely toxic and deficient when it comes to our nutritional and dietary needs. Secondly, rather than following the traditional medical model of treating symptoms and ignoring the nutritional model, we address these issues by building purity and sufficiency.
Dr. Cheryl Hosmer, Naturopath, is especially experienced in digestive health. Your digestive system accounts for over 70% of your immune system and acts as your "second brain." The function of your digestive system determines the health of every other body system. For example, a weak digestive system = weak immunity = acute or chronic inflammation. The same goes for stress. A stressed child/adult = stressed digestive system = acute or chronic inflammation.
Our program focuses on these main areas:
- The physiological effects of the Western Diet with respect to insulin resistance, metabolic acidosis, omega fatty acid deficiency, probiotic deficiency, and fiber deficiency.
- The toxicity of processed foods, food additives and preservatives, chemical household products and industrial chemicals.
- Identifying the innate genetic requirements in terms of nutrient sufficiency.
Functional Nutrition - How It Works:
The program has 3 levels (Basic, Expanded and Complex) depending on your needs. The consult consists of establishing health goals based on a dietary history, stress and toxic exposure history.
Basic Program- intended for an individual who is otherwise healthy but wants a more comprehensive work-up. Nutrient and organ reflex points on the body are checked by clinical kinesiology to determine if you are deficient in certain nutrients, have food sensitivities such as dairy, gluten, wheat or sugar,or need to detox. Based on your results you will be given diet recommendations and essential supplements for purity and sufficiency. The fee for this plan is $45.00.
Expanded Program- geared toward individuals with a chronic complaint. In addition to the basic program, quantum biofeedback will be used to test your body's CHI energy. It determines what is blocking and stressing the body's energy and then balances it. Biofeedback can manage stress, reduce pain, relax muscles, and benefit peak performance. (Should not be used if pregnant or wear a pacemaker.) The fee for this plan is $95.00.
Complex Program- focused on Spectrum Disorder Children and select cases. This program not only includes the basic and expanded programs but consists of a detailed brain health evaluation. By determining which area of the brain is lacking stimulation we can then support that area with biofeedback as well as specific supplementation. The cost depends on the time involved.
